Curbside Recycling
Why Recycle?
Did you know that approximately 75% of the trash that is thrown away each week is recyclable? Yet only 25% is actually recycled. One of the cornerstones of The City of Westland Mission Green Initiative is Recycling.
The City of Westland is excited to offer its residents curbside single stream recycling.
Explore more information about our curbside recycling program and what can be recycled at the Recycling Simplified website.
Recycling Rules
- Do not put recyclables into plastic bags
- Glass containers, TetraPacks, and plastic bags are not accepted
- Only material that is empty, clean, and dry can be recycled
- Rinse out any residue that is in plastic bottles and cans before putting them in your recycling container
- Shredded paper must be put in a recyclable paper bag
Your recycling bin will be picked up, every other week, on your regularly scheduled trash collection day.
All residents are allowed one recycling bin per property that takes advantage of the curbside recycling program.
