Planning Commission

About

The Planning Commission is governed by a nine-member board appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation of the City Council. Members serve three year terms. Members must reside, work, or have ownership interest in property in the City of Westland. The Planning Commission reviews and recommends to City Council all applications for amendments to the Zoning Ordinance or zoning map, applications for special land uses, site plan approvals and planned unit developments.

Process

Developers interested in locating in Westland should review the Planning Process. Their recommendations are provided to City Council to aid in their decision-making process. Meetings are broadcast by your local cable provider. Notice of agenda items are published in the Westland Observer and residents are notified by mail if they own property or live within 300 feet of the proposal.
