Westland, Michigan (April 5, 2022) - Westland Mayor William R. Wild is honored to appoint Mr. C. Paschal Eze as the City's first Chief Diversity Officer, effective May 2, 2022. Mr. Eze is a Westland resident and has served as a member of the Westland Housing Commission since March 2020. In addition to several certifications in Humanitarian efforts, Mr. Eze has a Bachelor of Science in Government & Public Administration and a Master's Degree in Conflictology. Mr. Eze is the former Vice President and Director of Communications at the Detroit Rescue Mission, a non-profit organization that has grown to be one of the largest rescue missions in the U.S., providing daily services in 5 Michigan counties to 2200 homeless, hungry and hurting women, children, veterans, at-risk youth, seniors and returning citizens. "I am looking forward to working tirelessly with various stakeholders in creating and nurturing the right environment for everyone in Westland to feel a sense of belonging which, studies have suggested, augurs well for our individual and collective wellbeing", stated Mr. Eze. "I believe my strong listening and trust building skills, as well as my training, temperament and diverse experiences have prepared me for this important role." As Chief Diversity Officer, Eze will develop and oversee programs, services, initiatives, trainings and organizational cultural realignment strategies designed to enhance the workplace culture and the quality of life in the City of Westland. He will serve as a liaison between City officials and residents to develop relationships within the community to promote diversity as an essential and core element of the mission of the City of Westland.
