Senior Resources

About

The City of Westland's Senior Resources Department develops and implements a comprehensive program designed to address the changing needs of older adults in the community.  Engaging activities and social events allow older adults to connect and support each other.  The Senior Resources Department is committed to helping older adults have as many opportunities to engage the community.

Commission on Aging

In an effort to not miss a single opportunity for older adults in the community, the Commission of Aging was created to assist the Senior Resources department in the concerns and needs of older adults and what outside programs and services are available that could be added to the Senior Resources expansive catalogue of programs and services.

Friendship Center

This facility houses the Senior Resources Department and provides dedicated space for all the programs available to seniors within the community.  From fitness to learning opportunities, the Friendship Center is the focus point of the senior community.

Educational Site

The Senior Resources Department is committed to be an educational experience for college students. In the past we have hosted students from Eastern Michigan University, Michigan State University, and Madonna University. Students from the various disciplines of Nursing, Social Work and Gerontology have gained practical experience working with Friendship Center participants. Encouraging and assisting our young professionals today, will make tomorrow a good place to be.
