  • Drug Activity - Special Investigation Unit - (SIU) - The unit's primary responsibility is the investigation and prosecution of narcotics cases including interviews, interrogations, drug evidence processing, and case preparation of in-custody felony drug prisoners.   • Ordinance Enforcement - The department responds to complaints about abandoned vehicles and other ordinance violations will be forwarded to the proper department within the City of Westland to be addressed. If you're reporting an abandoned vehicle, we need to know vehicle location, type, color, and license plate number (if possible). Any abandoned vehicle parked on a public roadway or easement, may be tagged. If a tagged vehicle is not moved within 48 hours it may be impounded. Complaints can be made by calling (734) 722 -9600.

  • First Step Victim Advocacy -  First Step  (734)467-5619 provides crisis counseling, safety planning and support services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The advocate will assist with: police reports, personal protection orders, explaining the court process, accompanying victims to court as well as linking victims to other free First Step services including: safe shelter, counseling for both adults and children for domestic and sexual violence, and a host of other services.     The Support Services/Records Bureau is open to the public Monday thru Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The Records Bureau Department will be closed on all public holidays.

      Service Fees 

      Report Copies - Resident $15.00, Non-Resident $20.00
      Record/Background Checks - $10.00
      Notary Fee for Gun Permits - $10.00
      Video or Audio CD - $75.00
      Photographs - $5.00 per Picture, $35.00 on a CD
      Gun Registrations/Safety Inspections for Guns - No Charge
      CPL (Concealed Weapons License) Application Processing – Contact Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, 734-721-5125
      CPL Application Packets Available- No Charge
      Applicant/Personal Fingerprinting - Resident $50.00 per card, Non-Resident $75.00 per card
      Animal Trap (With DNR Permit), Refundable Deposit (for 1 week) - $55.00

      Hours of Operation
      Record checks and fingerprinting for certain job applications - 9:00am to 4:00 pm Wednesday through Friday
      Gun Services - Monday thru Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
