Trash and yard waste is picked up on a weekly basis. Trash and yard waste may be put out the night before your trash pick-up day, after 6:00 p.m. All trash and yard waste must be out by 6:00 am on your trash collection day.
Trash collections are not made on the following legal holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Trash collection will be delayed by one day if the holiday falls on a week day.
Garbage must be placed in the new garbage cans delivered by the city. These cans are 96 or 64 gallons. Excess garbage, bulk, and special pick up items are subject to a fee as of September 1, 2014. Please see the Special Pick Up page for a list of the fees. Requests need to be made and paid for 2 business days prior to garbage day.
All trash and yard waste must be placed on the street side of any ditches or on the back of the curb. No container should be placed directly on the street. You must provide at least 4 feet of space between your trash bin, recycle bin and/or yard waste containers/bags. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in your bins not being emptied.
Carpet, padding, or tarps must be cut down into 4ft lengths, rolled and bundled. No bundle may weigh more than 50 lbs. As of September 1, 2014 there is a charge for carpet pick up. Please see the Special Pick Up page for the fee.
Items that are not accepted curbside include: automotive parts, bikes, building/construction or remodeling material, concrete of any kind, fencing, hot tubs, pallets, pianos or organs, picnic tables, pool tables, sheds, swing sets, tires/rims, and wood. These items would have to be disposed of in a dump or landfill. If you are unsure of an item please call the Department of Public Service.
Any delay in schedule will be posted on the City’s cable station, Facebook page and website.
To report a missed trash or yard waste pick up, please go to Service Request on the Department of Public Service page.
